I had my Classical Chinese final today. It went really well. I need to finish typesetting a book for work and then finish my take-home Semantics final and then I am free. My family and girlfriend are going to Everglade City and Bonita Springs next week, and my band might have a small New England tour this summer. All I want to do is play music and maybe live in the woods for a while.

Oh my God. I never knew how lame and hilarious Mudvayne were. Like, I never heard their music when I was younger, and I certainly never knew what they looked like. Oh shit, they are great.

I’m hearing the best thunder I’ve ever heard right now. It’s making tons of car alarms go off and rumbling for a really long time.
Neutral Milk Hotel tickets sold out within 5 minutes. We were on the site and clicked to order as soon as possible (ie. right at noon). And now I sob and weep at work.
I hate the word “superstorm.” Hurricane. We already have a word. Hurricane.
Psyched about cicadas.
My left ear. It won’t work.
Daft Punk seriously has the worst album covers. It’s so weird.

mentalflossr: In June 2001, Laura Buxton (almost 10) released a red balloon into the air over her hometown of Stoke-on-Trent in Staffordshire, England. On one side of the balloon, she had written “Please return to Laura Buxton,” and on the other side, her home address. A few weeks later, a man 140 miles away in…
The synth bit during the chorus of Barracuda (on John Cale’s album Fear, on which Eno performed) is so similar to the synth bit throughout St. Elmo’s Fire (on Brian Eno’s Another Green World). I really love it.
More and more, the wilderness has been calling to me.

I think I’m going to write an academic paper on Steve Brule’s systematic mutilation of the English language and submit it to a linguistics journal if it’s any good. Don’t steal this idea. © 2013 me.
On TLC, I just saw the best tattoo I’ve ever seen. It’s on this woman’s breast/chest, and it’s a pocket that says “I love Nashville” on it (but “love” is a heart) and there’s an anthropomorphic hotdog in the pocket, wearing an Indian headdress, playing guitar.
I am back upstate. I spent a long time chipping dead branches in the woods, making not a dent in the process. Obviously, I know what I’ll be doing for much of this summer.
